Thigh size = Cardiovascular Risk?

In 2009 in a study in Demark, more than 2000 men and women were studied and they looked at thigh circumference and incidence of heart disease over 12 years.

What they found blew my mind. Women with thigh circumferences below 60 cm—about 23.6 inches—have a significantly higher risk of dying early.

In fact, every 5 cm increase in thigh size is linked to an 18% lower risk of death.

But here's the key: It's not about fat. It's about MUSCLE. Studies show that women who lose thigh muscle as they age have up to 21% higher mortality risk.

Why?

Because muscle in your thighs:

Protects your heart

Regulates your blood sugar

Keeps you mobile and independent

This is why I keep telling you: Strength training is non-negotiable. Especially in your 40s in perimenopause and beyond when you're losing muscle FAST.

Your thighs aren't just aesthetic. They're survival. So lift weights. Build that muscle. Your life might depend on it 💪

Create the Habit

Every month, I want to encourage you to create a health habit, because I believe health is truly in your own hands.

I came upon this interesting study that showed that jumping exercises can improve bone mineral density (BMD), particularly at the femoral neck (in your hips). According to this study, 50 jumps performed 4 times weekly can get you significant results! So get hopping- whether it is jumping rope, hop scotch, or simply hopping in your kitchen, start the habit now!

I hope this regimen can be less intimidating for my busy women, whether it is because of work or young children. The point is, build a habit, perfect it later!

See if this habit decreases any of the symptoms you experience in perimenopause or menopause using my free symptom tracker below!
